Calahonda Popular Tourist resort Del Sol. Situated between Marbella and Fuengirola and is an area chiefly developed for tourism. Consequently there are extensive apartment blocks and Villas stretching from the coast into the hills behind.

This self-sufficient tourist resort provides an excellent base for exploring the Costa del Sol. The majority of visitors to this part of the coast are British. Therefore if you are looking for a home away from home, in the sun and located on the beach, Calahonda is for you. However, if you prefer something a little more traditionally Spanish, then Calahonda probably isn’t the best option for you.

Places to visit in Calahonda Popular Tourist resort :

Located a couple of kilometres along the road is Puerto Cabopino. This port has the reputation for being the most secluded and picturesque one on the Costa del Sol It is a popular venue for British tourists who want to enjoy a good meal, before taking a walk along its sandy beaches. Some of the Coasts most popular restaurants, such as Alberts and Giuseppes Pizzeria, are located here.

Nearby you’ll discover Miraflores. Above all this is a very popular golf and lawn bowls resort. A little further on, you come to the area of Mijas and Mijas Pueblo. This is probably Andalusia’s most popular white village. Mijas Pueblo is situated slightly northeast in the hills.

Monuments:

Most importantly Calahonda this popular tourist resort is a new area in terms of human development and so has only one monument. If you travel into the hills of Calahonda, just past the El Portón complex. Here you will encounter a small Christian monument that acts as a beacon. On a clear day you should be able to see the whole coast from here. This includes Africa and Gibraltar. Above all If you’re visiting in summer then certainly take a car. Because the walk, with the heat and humidity, will not be for the faint hearted.

Beaches in Calahonda:

The coastal road splits Calahonda resort. It has a lovely long stretch of a sandy Beach with a number of pretty villas and lovely urbanisations backing on to it. Dotted along the beach are a number of Chiringuitos (beach restaurants)

Close by are the natural sand dunes of Cabopino. This beach is a popular nudist beach.  If you walk to the left you will come to Fuengirolas beaches. To the right is Marbella’s beaches. The beaches of both of these resorts are very popular.

Local facilities in calahonda tourist resort:

The main area of Calahonda, which is visible from the main CN-340 road, has many restaurants and shops. The best  options for shopping, dining and entertainment is in the El Zoco commercial centre in Calahonda. There is also the excellent Club del Sol. This features a gym, tennis, paddle, swimming pool and aerobics.Across the motorway and adjacent to the El Zoco complex you will find more shops and restaurants.

Eating out in Calahonda:

The gastronomy in this part of the Coast is 100% international with influences from all over the globe. Hence there are traditional British fish and chips, Hungarian goulash, Japanese sushi, Italian pasta and pizza. Furthemore whatever takes your fancy, it’s here in Calahonda. You could eat a different cuisine every night of your holiday!

Calahonda’s local fiesta provides visitors with the opportunity to sample the pleasant Spanish tradition of Churros. Locals make Churros from dough, which they then batter and fry. People normally serve Churros with a cup of thick hot chocolate. The churros are dunked into the chocolate.

Between Marbella and Fuengirola is Calahonda. This area has been developed for the tourist. There are apartment blocks and timeshare facilities. The buildings stretch from the coast and into the hills behind.

Nightlife:

Calahonda Popular Tourist resort

Calahonda is one of the smaller urbanisations on the coast. Here there are few large nightclubs. The law in calahonda is quite restrictive keeping noise to a minimum. In contrast to the other resorts there are few large nightclubs. However  there is a choice of some smaller venues. This includes the Trafalgar Bar in the El Zoco complex. This is a late bar which is busy with visitors until about 3am.

David’s Bar in neighbouring urbanisation Riviera del Sol is also very popular. While in contrast if you fancy a more upper class, but pricy option, then the famous Nikki’s Beach is located around 10 minutes away. This is in the charming area of Elviria, between Calahonda and Marbella.

Climate:

Above all Calahonda enjoys a sub-tropical Mediterranean climate, with hot summers and warm winters. Cooling breezes from the sea make the summer heat manageable; temperatures average 32 ºC during the summer.
