Nerja Restaurants:

Nerja Restaurants…To eat out in Nerja, breakfast lunch or dinner, there is delicious food to be found to suit all tastes.  Most importantly from breakfast time onwards, as you walk through the beautiful, white-washed streets of Nerja, the aroma of freshly brewed coffee, permeates from every corner.  ‘Tostado con tomate’ Toasted bread with fresh chopped tomatoes, a little local olive oil, If you prefer, a little freshly ground black pepper,  perfect breakfast. This can be  accompanied by a delicious ‘Café con leche en vaso’ (Coffee with milk, served in a glass). Somehow, this traditional Spanish way of drinking coffee, makes for a much more delicious taste. As a result cafe served in a glass is usually hot, as opposed to coffee in a cup, which, whilst still delicious, tends to be just warm enough to drink!

Lunchtime in Nerja:

To clarify lunchtime is usually around 2pm, and most importantly this is when the Chiringuitos and Merenderos on the beaches are the places to go!  Whilst the most tender dishes of pork and chicken can be enjoyed, above all the fresh fish, and sea food are certainly unbeatable!  Served with Patatas fritas (chips) or in the same vein traditional Patatas a la Pobre (poor man’s potatoes) you are certainly guaranteed a scrumptious lunch!

Eating out at night in Nerja Restaurants:

A lovely idea is to stroll around this beautiful typical Spanish town in the early balmy summer evenings, and choose your restaurant!  Above all wandering around the lovely narrow white-washed streets before dinner, is such a lovely thing to do.  Stop off at a tapa bar for a glass of local vino and a morsel of food. We would certainly recommend jamon or queso with a wedge of fresh bread.  Therefore just use this as a starter, and then choose your place to eat your main meal.

Mediteranean Cuisine in Nerja Restaurants:

Children are certainly welcomed everywhere!  Above all every restaurant has a different menu, and usually children will always be catered for.  Most of all from fine dining to a quick but delicious pizza or pasta! Spanish people love families. Above all the Spanish restaurateurs are so obliging and go out of their way to ensure you have the loveliest experience.  That said, there are also certainly English, French, Italian, German and other European/Mediterranean style restaurants for you to enjoy.

So many positive things to add to this, but not enough space!  Simply make the most of this wonderfully relaxed dining culture, and just enjoy!

El Avalon –

Located on the N340 at Punta Lara roundabout/entrance.  You will find this gorgeous restaurant elevated to the left as you enter Punta Lara Urbanization.  Wonderful views ambience, food – book a table on the terrace, or just go and try a glass of wine up there – wonderful Nerja Restaurant!

Paraiso de Nerja –

Directly opposite Punta Lara entrance, on the N340.  Lovely just for drinks in a stylish environment, or dinner – a lovely treat with easy parking too!

Restaurant Bakus –

Situated in town at the end of the Calle Hernando de Carabeo.  Delicious and stylish dining – necessary to book ahead!  Very popular Nerja Restaurant and our favorite!

Pata Negra –

One of the oldest restaurants in town – two restaurants now – this is the newer one!  Towards the top of Calle Cristo on the left-hand side – delicious food and wines, beautiful setting and service – always a lovely evening!

Restaurant & Tapas Bar D’Vinos  –

In the centre of Nerja on Calle Almirante Ferrandis – Gasto tapas:  Absolutely delicious food, served in ‘taster’ portions, but plenty to eat and enjoy, and once you try this gorgeous place, you will definitely want to go back!

Restaurant Braseria de Paco Mari –

Again in the centre of town, on Calle Almirante Ferrandis (or Post Office Street as it is locally)!  Delicious food, with excellent service – definitely one to try

Chiringuitos (or Beach bars):

All within easy walking distance from the Punta Lara, Tropicana and Casablanca area, to be found between Hotel Perla Marina, and Hotel Marinas de Nerja:

Chiringuito Mauri

Is one of the most popular – with fresh fish every day – Rosada or Dorada, done on the BBQ, Paella, also chicken and pork, and they do a fantastic steak too!  Very reasonably priced.

Chiringuito Playazo….

The next one along from Mauri…..rustic, good food, and convenient (as with Mauri) for a day on the beach, or simply as a ‘stop off’ for refreshment whilst taking a walk into town.

On the N340 towards Torrox –

you will find lots of other Chiringuitos –

Chiringuito Costa Del Sol – absolutely beautiful setting, delicious food (definitely one of our favourites)!  Open from Easter to end of November usually.  The salads are totally delicious, and go beautifully with the fresh fish.

El Varadero –

Situated on Penoncillo beach on the N340 towards Torrox!  Like a secret hideaway really – cannot be seen from the road, but a turning into a large car park (signposted El Varadero) takes you to the entrance.  Indescribable really, but beautifully presented, with indoor and outdoor dining, on the beach, very close to the water’s edge, with huge sunbeds in the summer.

Chiringuito La Cabana del Canaria –

(Chicken Shack) ….On the right hand side further along the N340 past El Varadero, you will see by the side of the road, a rustic bar, with white tables and chairs scattered across the outside – parking is just past this delightful Chiringuito, on the right, and then walk just a few yards back, and take a seat, and be ready to try some delicious roast chicken (half a chicken) with Canary Potatoes and the most delicious spicy hot sauce… all for less than 5 Euros…! Really!  Also at lunchtime, you can sample a few of their many totally delicious tapas, with chunks of fresh baked bread, and garlic mayonnaise to dip.  Give it a try – you will love the food!

Middle range – Excellent Value – good food:

Restaurant Rey Alfonso –

A must to visit – situated at the very far edge of the Balcon de Europa, and hidden away down the steps and on the cliff face!  Fabulous position – great food and service a wonderful Nerja restaurant agin one of our favorites!

Restaurant Taverna Pepe –

In the old town – make your way to Parador area of the town, and simply ask any Spanish Person – “Donde esta Taverna Pepe” you will only be 5 minutes walk away at the most!  Everyone in that area knows this restaurant ….authentic, good service, cosy in winter, and absolutely delicious food and wine.

Restaurant Jose y Victoria –

One of our all-time favourites!  A tiny Spanish restaurant on Calle Malaga!  Owned and run by Jose and Victoria!  Delicious menu, good service – always a very enjoyable evening, with a warm welcome.  Essential to book, as this very popular restaurant is always busy!

Restaurant Cibeles –

Situated on ‘prolongacion de Calle Carabeo” near to the large main car park in town.  Above all possibly the best, and best value for money fillet steak cooked on hot stones at your table!  Serviced with crunchy chips and three different sauces or dips!  Certainly Absolutely delicious!

 

Restaurant Sevillano –

Always good food, warm welcome and a lovely evening!  Joaquin, the owner, is a fantastic restauranteur!  That is to say the Bistro on Calle Gloria is very cosy in winter and certainly lovely to sit outside on the bustling street in the summer!  Similarly the sister restaurant across from this has a wonderful roof terrace, and a separate tapas bar!  In the summer of 2017, Joaquin also opened The Volks Bar, a gorgeous rooftop bar. Therefore here you can enjoy a pre- or post dinner drink or cocktail, with views of the town and sea!  You will also find a tapas bar Sevillano (same family) on Calle Antonio Millon – certainly very popular!

Burriana Beach:

Mar y Sol situated on Burriana Beach – absolutely lovely, with chill out area of sofas and comfy chairs for cocktails pre- dinner or post dinner!  Certainly a delicious menu, and beautiful setting!

Rincon del Sol – In the far corner of Burriana Beach – restaurant, bar and huge sunbeds with waiter service in the summer!  Just relax and enjoy this Nerja Restaurant!

Cheap Eats:

Restaurant Little Italy –

To be found on Calle Hernando de Carabeo – just of the Balcon de Europa! Most importantly this amazingly cheap Italian restaurant has stood the test of time!  Always busy, always full – get in early!  Perfect if you have children – (or even if you haven’t) pasta, pizza, all different types and toppings – mainly 3.50 Euros each, drinks – soft drinks, beer, glass of wine, etc – all incredibly cheap!  Good food, good service, unbeatable value!

Restaurant La Dama

Italian – next door to Little Italy – again same prices apply – same delicious food – always busy, always full!  In the summertime, and sometimes lunchtimes all year round; people queue outside for a table! Absolutely amazing value!  Certail the prawns pill pill is the best in Nerja and the cheapest. Why bother cooking?
